So which do you prefer.  Do you tend to use separate effects pedals, or a multi effects unit??  Or both?

What do you use and why?

I'm addicted to gear. I have both. I built my own pedal board using the IKEA Gorm method. I started building the board when I had about four pedals and then started buying cheap Joyo pedals to fill my board (because I'm not a rich man). I love that thing now. It's like mission control. I like it because the combinations of sound are almost endless.

Prior to that I had (still have) the BOSS ME-50 effects unit. I like it because it offers about 20+ different distortions in one unit. You're limited to one distortion, one modulation and one other effect (the type escapes me right now) at a time as there are three pedals to turn on/off at a time. That's the first instance of Flanger I had though. The BOSS ME-50 was the same price as a flanger pedal ;)

Preference? Home made pedal board.
