I feel really stupid now.  I don't remember clicking it, and never really use this feature, but noticed the little filter icon next to the gear search (upper right of the UI) That had a little x on it.  Clicked it and all my gear came back.

It's a filter to show stuff you own or not, and somehow it was checked.  Just in case someone else finds the same thing happening.

I either clicked it, or it somehow changed during the update, not sure.  But I'll hold my hands up and accept the embarrassment.  :-[  :whi:  :legit:

I've just updated AmpliTube 5 MAX to 5.10.3 via the Product Manager and all my gear is missing.  I tried restore purchases but still no gear at all or pre-sets. There appears to be a handful of gear showing but even they are all locked.  Anyone else had this happen?

General Discussion / Site suggestions, and ideas.
November 09, 2024, 03:28:31 PM
OK, this place needs perking up a bit, I've not done much with it for a while, but I feel this is the time. I want to encourage some conversations and get people to actually join. So have any of you got any suggestions?

  • Anything you think we need on the site?  New features etc.
  • Anything you think needs changing, such as boards that need adding, moving or removing?

Please add your ideas here in this thread, and I'll see what I can do. ;)

Thanks

Mick

Why You Should Change Your Guitar Strings: A Guide to Fresher Sound and Better Playability

If you're a guitarist, you've probably noticed a decline in your guitar's tone and playability over time. This is often a sign that your guitar strings are due for a change. While it may seem like a minor task, replacing your strings regularly can significantly improve your playing experience.

Why Do Guitar Strings Wear Out?

  • Friction: Constant friction from your fingers and picking hand causes the metal to wear down, leading to a loss of brightness and clarity in the tone.
  • Oxidation: Exposure to air and moisture can cause the strings to oxidize, leading to a dull and muted sound.
  • Corrosion: Sweat and dirt from your hands can corrode the strings, further compromising their tone and playability.

Signs It's Time for a String Change:

1. Dull Tone: If your guitar's sound has become dull and lifeless, it's a clear indication that your strings need to be replaced.
2. Difficulty Tuning: Old strings can stretch and lose their tension, making it harder to keep your guitar in tune.
3. String Noise: Excessive string noise, such as fret buzz or string squeak, can be caused by worn-out strings.
4. Corrosion and Discoloration: Visible signs of corrosion or discoloration on the strings are a surefire sign that they need to be replaced.

Benefits of Fresh Strings:

  • Improved Tone: New strings produce a brighter, clearer, and more resonant tone.
  • Enhanced Playability: Fresh strings feel smoother and more responsive under your fingers, reducing friction and improving your playing technique.
  • Easier Tuning: New strings are more stable and hold their tuning better, saving you time and frustration.
  • Longer String Life: By changing your strings regularly, you can extend the life of your guitar's fretboard and bridge.

How Often Should You Change Your Strings?

The frequency of string changes depends on several factors, including:

  • Playing Frequency: If you play frequently, you'll need to change your strings more often.
  • String Gauge: Heavier gauge strings tend to last longer than lighter gauge strings.
  • Playing Environment: Exposure to humidity and temperature fluctuations can accelerate string wear.

As a general rule, it's a good idea to change your strings every 2-3 months for regular players. However, if you notice any of the signs of worn-out strings, don't hesitate to replace them sooner.

By following these guidelines and making regular string changes, you can keep your guitar sounding its best and ensure a more enjoyable playing experience.
