Bass Guitar / Re: What bass strings?
« on: April 20, 2013, 12:53:48 PM »
Thanks for the feedback on this, I've seen many people recommend the Ernie ball slinkys, and they were also recommended for the very cheap six string Strat copy that I have too.

Although they actually recommended the Cobalt one's for that guitar, due to it's cheap underpowered pickups I guess.

'MR MAKER' is the new single from BlackWolf: Out 30th September 2013.  This is the first single taken from BlackWolf's up-coming debut album 'THE HUNT': Out January 2014.

Just a heads up.  There's a good range of Behringer pedals for sale at Rapid Electronics,

So if your looking for a great pedal / stompbox at an affordable price these will be worth a look.  ;)

I recommend Marshall mb30. Surprisinglying loud with little to no distortion.

Thanks for the reply.  I actually got hold of a very old but very loud and solid SWR Workingmans 12 combo, about 120w I believe.  It's really heavy though.  If he takes to the bass I'll consider a lighter combo for taking round his mates for practice sessions.  Either that or buy him a wheel barrow. lol..  :D

Hi paul, and welcome to guitaristguild.

Also, thanks for making a few posts, and a review in the forums, actually I wish others would do the same so we can get the forum buzzing a bit. Always a bit tricky getting a new site going.  ;)

PS: you've got a nice list of gear there, making me jealous. lol..  8)

Electric Guitar / Stratocaster question.
« on: April 17, 2013, 07:28:47 AM »
So your about to by your first electric guitar, for example one of the Fender Squire Affinity series.

These come in a couple of different types, the standard with three single coil pickups, and the HSS version which has a humbucking bridge pickup, and single coil neck and middle pickups.

Which one would you choose and why?   What would make you choose the Stratocaster HSS over over the standard three single coil layout.  Just curious.  ;)

Hi Peter, and welcome to

I would like to use this site to interact with other guitarists about equipment, tell you about my band's gigs and keep you updated about the guitar shows we organise.

Please feel free to do so, that's exactly what I built this site for.  ;)  Must say, I've never been to a guitar show, sounds interesting.  Do they hold any in Essex?

Hi Mick,

Thanks for the supports, great website btw!

Chris, no problem, site is a tad slow atm, it needs more members like yourself to get things moving.  We'll get there eventually I'm sure.  ;)  I also regularly tweet the posts made here by the members for a little bit more exposure.

I'll look forward to the sound clips and demos.
