As per the title of this post.  Would you consider putting cheap, or cheaper guitar pickups in your expensive guitar?  I mean for example swapping out your stock Gibson pickups for something else, even if they're a lot cheaper.

I know there a lot of top brand pickups out there like Gibson, DiMarzio, Seymour Duncan, Bare Knuckle, EMG, Lace, Fishman, to name but a few.  But what about some of the cheaper options out there like IronGear, Wilkinson, Tonerider, or some other cheaper brand.  Would you be prepared to swap out a set of £100 - £200 pickups for a set of £50 ones if they sounded good.

What's your take on this?

How to Bar Chords

This post appeared first at How to Bar Chords on TheGuitarLesson.com, thanks for reading.

Learning how to play barre (bar) chords is always going to be one of the most difficult techniques beginner guitarists will face. The good news is that they CAN be learned, it just takes a fair amount of practice and dedication. Good things don't come easy, but with enough time, you'll be laughing when you […]

What do you need to do to learn blues guitar? Not much actually! In my honest opinion, I think it's one of the easiest styles to play on the guitar, which is great news for beginner-intermediate players. If you are already somewhat familiar with basic lead guitar techniques, you could be playing the blues very […]

Guitar Accessories / Re: Batteries for Effects Pedals, Tuners etc.

I use rechargeable batteries in my wireless system and some pedals, but alkaline ones in my guitars. I'd almost run out of the Duracell ones ;)

Interesting.  So the idea of using alkaline in the guitars is because they hold the charge better than rechargeable, or some other reason?  I know the rechargeable batteries lose their charge over a period of time, or at least the older ones did.

lol..  Yes wouldn't mind a Gibson myself either.

So I'm guessing "Epiphone Limited Lifetime warranty" doesn't cover the bits that break, moving parts and all that.  http://www.epiphone.com/Products/Les-Paul/Prophecy-Les-Paul-Custom-Plus-GX.aspx
