I'm Mick, the site owner 52 yrs of age. I currently don't own a guitar, but have a keen interest in all things related to them. I also dabble in website stuff, and also run a photography based site Camera Craniums
My 14 yr old son is about to learn how to play Bass guitar, that is when I buy him one.

Often wondered about this myself.
Not sure about the actual amp, but I'm guessing the Speaker needs to be of a good spec to handle bass. Using a normal speaker cabinet on a bass setup, would soon result in failure.
