I have been a little remiss with updates on the new model of late, but here's a little one to bring you up to date....
I've started work on the body, which, as you will know was going to be Cherry.  However, I have changed things a little.  My plan was to add a little detail to the body by sandwiching a piece of Padauk within the Cherry.  While in the process of doing this, I decided that the Padauk looked too good to cover.  So, the body is now a Cherry core with a Padauk top.  Enjoy the pics and tale of how I got there.....
Unfortunately, the process of laminating any two pieces of timber is not particularly exciting.  It involves a lot of hand planing, patience and glue.
I started on the Padauk which at this stage was going to be the filling in a Cherry sandwich.  One face is planed true......  here are a few pics of the process - check out the link for the full update

Hi, update on the new model, which I'm considering naming 'Molly Malone' after Dublin's famous lady of the night!
Busy week this week, with some new orders (which is great!) and some time spent sourcing some fantastic looking timbers, arriving any time.....2 you have seen already   :)
On the new model, the bulk of the work has been on the fretboard, preparing, slotting, shaping and tapering, then clamping, gluing and then shaving........ have dropped in a few pics for you here - Check out the link for the full story! http://bordello.guitars/news-article/New-T-Modelbit-more-work
cheers!

they are stunning aren't they  8) they will both be going into the Custom Guitar Builder on the site as one of the options.    These new woods I have coming will be unique, one-offs where what you see is the timber you get.  What would you apply it to?   :)

Hi Tory... Very interesting concept you have, and its so great to be different!  :)   To add my opinion on finish, I know you mentioned that you were trying to stay away from black, but I quite like the Cosmo Black finish that Gotoh do on their hardware - not sure how they achieve that......

Awesome! I wonder how it'd look with a set of Dialtone Pickups installed in it... ;)

For a VERY quick moment we'd thought about trying to build an electric guitar ourselves, but then we realized how much work it is, and how hard it is to get it right, so we decided to leave it up to the experts. We really respect the folks like you who are able to pull it off! Seeing the development from scratch is really cool, too.

Always open to suggestions/ new ideas  ;). Very interesting concept you have. To add my opinion on finish, I personally like the Cosmo Black finish that Gotoh do on their hardware. Not sure how they achieve that. Bareknuckle do some interesting finishes too.

Hi Scarebear........Taylor Guitar factory tour sounds great, always cool to see the build assembly and techniques etc  8)
.... this is a shot of the neck construction - here I have hand planed up the maple pieces for the neck and then glued together form a 7 piece laminate with walnut veneers inbetween.  Doing this in one go is a bit stressy, particularly when using polyurethane glue, as the open time is not very long, but it gives a good strong bond.  So, after some swearing and sweating, you end up with the pic here....  check out this link for the rest of the pics.... let me know what you think, I got hold of some really nice veneers for the headstock  :)  http://bordello.guitars/news-article/New-T-Model-work-so-far

Is this even feasible?  I think so...  Bordello Guitars has launched its new site! .... with a unique, custom, online guitar builder  http://bordello.guitars/category/442/Custom-Guitar-Builder..... hours of fun to be had! - more models will be added all the time, and in true custom style, even if you don't see a desired option, then let me know - happiness is your perfect guitar!  Check it out, would be great to hear what you think..... thanks, Mark.
