Marshall amps recently announced their new range of modeling amps.  I have to say I was just thinking another boring addition to the digital amp scene, but this series has some pretty nifty features and sounds really good from what I've seen so far.

It comes in four models, a 25W 1x10" speaker combo, 50W 1x12" speaker combo, 100W 2x12" combo and a 100W Head. Code 4x12 Amp Speaker Cabinet to go with the head version.

*All models boast the same features as far as I'm aware,

PRESETS: 100
PRE AMP MODELS: 14
POWER AMP MODELS: 4
SPEAKER CABINET MODELS: 8
Built in FX: 24 (5 SIMULTANEOUSLY)
CONTROLS BASS, MIDDLE, TREBLE, GAIN, VOLUME, PRE FX, AMP, MOD, DEL, REV, POWER, CAB.  *(I believe there's a slightly different layout for the controls on the CODE 25).

The neat part.
You can connect via Bluetooth® to control CODE and to stream music from your iOS or Android device using the supplied Gateway app.  This enables you to tweak all the various amp settings, FX settings and modulation settings, and store your own presets on your mobile device.  You can also connect to your computer via USB and use CODE as a DAW interface to record, and to stream audio. Plug in your MP3 player via CODE’s dedicated audio input to jam along with your favourite tracks or plug headphones in for a bit of silent practice..

This new range of Marshall CODE amps is very affordably priced to so check them out.  Here's some links.

They look very interesting the 100w 2x12 looks like a total bargain, although it would seem to be just a tad more than the Fender Mustang IV. I think I would probably still choose the Fender, what with already having two generations of IIIs about the place - I love 'em. The only way to choose would be to listen and then decide if the wireless tech in the Marshall is the USP that clinches it.

Mick

Fender and a Marshall, you could have both Howard.  8)

Must agree the 100w does look like an absolute steal at that price, the smaller options aren't too bad either tbh.  I'd like to try them out, and probably will when possible.  ;)

Wonder if they handle pedals very well.  We'll no doubt find out as time passes.

TBH Mick they're both a bit pricey for me. Not to mention probably way too loud as well :)

When I am using pedals with the Fenders I use a blank preset from Fuse just called 'empty'- no modelling at all, just straight into the amp.

Actually, I was going to ask about that Fuse preset for the Fender Mustang, you've mentioned it before if I remember.  Is this a readily available patch which I can download?  I'd like to try it out with some of my FX pedals.

This is one of the copies I have on my PC, it was in the V1 folder, but it 'should' work with V2 as well. If not I have another copy in my V2 presets folder.

I put it at position 00 so that it is the boot state of the Mustang.

Let me know if it works for you.

Thanks Howard.  Still haven't got around to trying your patch, I've downloaded it though, for when I get time to do so.  If you or anyone else has any other custom patches you'd like to share then they are welcome.

Might be an idea for a new forum section, "amp and effects patches"  Or at least it would if we had some active members, lol..

Do let me know how you get on with it. I got the preset from FUSE.

I've done one which is a JCM800 type of sound - I'll let you have that one when I next get the amp near enough to the PC to copy it across :)

Mick

Thanks Howard, will get around to playing with these very soon, garden is nearly under control now.  ;)

Our garden is nearly under water . . . I am beginning to wonder if it will ever stop raining. In 2002 there wasn't a space of more than 3 days without rain all year. I hope that isn't going to be repeated.

I love CODE series but I think Katana is the best in modeling amps.
There are good information about modeling and amps in general - ampizer.
