Right then this will be interesting!
What's your favourite guitar solo of all time? Not just the flashiest but your favourite! Maybe it's the super fast shredding that gets your blood pumping or maybe it's a sweet harmonic melody! Post your opinions & try find a vid link for youtube too!
I'll have a think about mine!

Nice one, GS.

Hard to pick, there have been so many through the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, and on.  But whenever anybody mentions guitar solos the first one I always think of is "Eruption" - Eddie Van Halen.

But I could name a hundred other favorites, there have been so many great guitarists...

That's a great solo! Van Galen is simply amazing & the godfather of finger tapping!
Here's a link to it!

Enjoy everyone!

Can I have two?

There are so many, but two of my favourites are Steve Rothery's effort in Easter - 2:40 in on this

And, of course, Comfortably Numb. 4:57 in here

But, why exclude Paul Kossoff, Joe Bonanmassa (here 5:08 in
), Eddie Van Halen, Steve Vai, Stevie Ray Vaughan and all the rest. It's got to depend on what mood you are in, hasn't it?

Yup, all of those, and Ace Frehley, Slash, Santana, Billy Gibbons, Brian May, and dozens more have done some great solos.

Always thought it would have been cool to have about 20-30 of them in a 'lead only' on-stage guitarist battle.  A call-response type of thing...

I still think the outro solo to Fade to Black is my favourite solo. I just can't play it. GuitarStarTV has made three videos for me so far, but I'm stuck on video two. Videos one and three I'm fine with. I just don't have speed as a guitar skill it seems. If you haven't seen these awesome tutorials, then have a look.

Fade to Black outro solo part 1
Fade to Black outro solo part 2
Fade to Black outro solo part 3

Maybe I should request part four and see what that's like? ;)

I don't really have a favourite guitar solo, as such............. too many good ones.
I'd add Jeff Beck to the list......

The solo from Little Wing, by Hendrix does touch a lot of spots, though......... well, all of it, really....  8)

Hey Scarebear cheers for the comments on my tutorials. I've been away for a while as been so busy with family life & home improvements!
I'm getting back to it now & have a few requests to get through so will post them up ASAP!
Glad to hear you're still going at it mate!
All these solos are fantastic & think me Gary Moore should definitely be up there with Still got the blues! Classic from start to finish!

Speak to you all soon

Garry Moore, now you're talking. I especially like the guitar work in this vid.  ;)

Garry Moore, and Scott Goram, doing what they do best.

That's awesome. Don't rush for me though. As I mentioned, I'm still getting through what you've already done for me. I'm such a slacker ...

I know Gary Moore loved the blues, but I also liked his rock days. In particular this ...

That's the first video I recall seeing a camera mounted to a guitar headstock. I still love that run down the neck he does. The solo begins at 2 minutes 30 seconds by the way.

They're not for everyone, but I love the Mars Volta. One of their songs - Tetragrammaton I thought was really underrated. Has two awesome solos. One here -
and another here

If you have 17m to spare listen to the whole song!
