We've just launched The Registry for Musical Instruments (TR4Mi).  This is a cloud-based global platform for the registration of Guitars, Bases, Keyboards, and in the future many more musical instruments.

Benefits:  1) you become paperless by loading pictures, warrantty and purchase receipt. 2) check a serial number of a guitar before buying it and see if it has been pre-registered to someone else (anywhere in the world) or if it has been declared stolen.  3)  Declare your guitar stolen and improve chances of recovery. If your guitar pops up on the other side of the world, someone checking the serial number, will have a way to contact you without knowing who you are (we protect your privacy).  You decide if you want to respond to the message.  The Guitar will remain with the stolen FLAG until you take it off. 4) Authorized dealers will be able to AUTHENTICATE guitars for the owners (something really important if you ever want to resell your guitar and prove it is authentic)  5) we're working on other really cool features which will make it really unattractive to carry a stolen or fake guitar.

Check out our site at   http://musical.theregistry.me  and give us feedback; especially if there are guitar brands that have still not made it onto our list.  Encourage your favorite dealer to request on our site a retailer license so that they may register their guitars before selling (it will make them less likely to be robbed).  Also tell us what other instruments and brands to support in order to prioritize our programmers!

Help us make TR4Mi the reference site for authentic musical instruments and ethical business transactions!!!

Nice concept. You have Moniker Guitars so I'm happy :)

I noticed you have Paul Reed Smith and PRS. Is there a difference?

Hi Scarebear,

No difference,   just some people like to look for PRS and speak about PRS and others use the full name.  We put both just in case.  In time we may just leave the full name.

If you know of other brands that we still have not included in the list, it would be great if you let us know.

Best Regards,
TH4Mi team

I can name a few ...

  • LTD (Unless you want to say they're all ESP)
  • Squier (again, unless you're bundling them up with Fender)
  • Dreamer Guitarworks
  • Framus
  • Peavey
  • Musicvox
  • SGC
  • Buddy Blaze
  • Eastwood
  • Cort
