So how many of you make, or have made your own effects pedals?

If you have, then where do you get your components from, including the plans (circuit diagrams) and circuit boards.  In the UK I know of a couple of places to get electronic components, http://www.rapidonline.com and http://www.maplin.co.uk  Both of these are only about nine miles from me, so quite handy.

And what about effects pedal kits, is this something you've also tried? any good, worth having a go at, or are they too costly compared to buying pre-built?
