Effects Pedals & Pedalboards / Line-6 Helix and Helix LT
« on: April 14, 2017, 12:54:43 PM »
Anyone took the plunge and got a Line-6 helix.  Just wondered what your first impressions are on this effects processor.

I see now they have a slightly cheaper version called the Helix LT , which I'll need to read up on to see what the differences are.  Looks like a few of the connectivity has been removed, but what else I'm not sure yet.

If you have either of these units please post your thoughts.

General Discussion / Vape Tanks, or E-Cigarettes
« on: February 19, 2017, 08:17:26 PM »
OK, I'm a long term smoker, and want to try and kick the habit.  Been thinking about trying a Vape Tank instead of real tobacco, but I'm new to all this vape stuff.  Anyone here made the move?

Three days ago I purchased a cheap starter kit, and so far I haven't had a real cigarette for two and a half days, that's a record for me to be honest.  Normally I'd be going crazy for a fag.   I don't know if it's the cheapy kit I got, or perhaps the juice I'm using, but I feel it could be a little stronger.

Quite like the look of this one on amazon, IMECIG® G3 Upgrade (Add Magnetic Dust Cap) Electronic Cigarette Starter Kit But any recommendations are welcome, I usually smoke rolling tobacco, so something with similar strength would be great.

General Discussion / Peach Guitars Announce New Superstore
« on: December 01, 2016, 06:56:34 PM »
Colchester guitar Retailer Peach Guitar announced they are about to open a new superstore.  They will be closing their existing shops in Braintree and Colchester and moving everything into one massive new store in Colchester.  To me this is exciting as it's my local Guitar shop, so can't wait to take a look around.

Amplifiers / So updating firmware killed your amp
« on: November 23, 2016, 06:30:12 PM »
Just curious after reading several posts regarding the Blackstar ID Core series amps dying after updating the firmware. I was wondering what support you got from Blackstar when or if this happened to you.

Did you get any help, or just accept the fact and put it down to experience. If you got any help. was your amp out of the warranty period?  To be honest it worries me each time they release a new version of insider and firmware, and IMO, it shouldn't.

Your thoughts please.

Some of the many posts I found regarding this problem.

General Discussion / Rocksmith
« on: November 13, 2016, 12:33:21 PM »
My son had the original version of Rocksmith sitting upstairs doing nothing, so I decided to give it a go.  Now I find this ridiculously difficult to master.  Anyone know if the latest version, Rocksmith 2014 Edition Remastered is easier to get along with, and has it improved much?

Also, anyone actually learned to play the guitar using these games?

Guitar Accessories / New Strings vs Old, how much does it affect tone?
« on: November 12, 2016, 12:19:58 PM »
Do new guitar strings really make a big difference to the tone of your guitar? I mean I play at home for a hobby only, and rarely change strings until I break one.  So don't really notice any slow degradation of the tone.

Should I be changing them more often regardless of breakages?

General Discussion / Where do you post your tracks?
« on: October 02, 2016, 09:38:49 PM »
Other than the usual places such as SoundCloud or YouTube where else do you post your work, demos, tracks, covers etc.?

General Discussion / Have you built your own guitar?
« on: October 02, 2016, 02:53:18 PM »
How many of you have built a guitar, either from a kit or completely from scratch??

1: Did it turn out as expected.
2: Do you still own and play it.
3: Got a photo of it, if so please post a pic.
4: What make or model is it based on.
5: Would you do it again.
6: If it was a kit build, where did you get the kit from.

General Discussion / What Internet Provider do you use?
« on: October 02, 2016, 02:29:48 PM »
Just out of interest, what internet provider do you use? Are they any good, or are you thinking of switching?

if you are switching what is the reason for the move. Price,  Reliability,  Crappy support,  Other.

Effects Pedals & Pedalboards / Multi Effects units, or seperate Pedals?
« on: October 01, 2016, 07:01:36 PM »
Seen several posts around the web stating that separate pedals / stomp boxes are the way to go, instead of using a all in one Multi Effects unit.  The multi units are pretty advanced these days, plus a lot more people are using digital, or solid state modeling amps than ever before.

What's your opinion on this.

Guitar Gear & Equipment Reviews / Guitar Tuner ?
« on: September 25, 2016, 01:34:35 PM »
What make and model guitar tuner do you use?

I'm now a great fan of my Snark Guitar, Bass and Violin Clip On Tuner.  After using a Korg GA-1 for a couple of years, finding it pretty tricky to see clearly, I decided to give the Snark a try.  Well I have to say it's a breath of fresh air.  It's really easy to see and easy to use.   I highly recommend you give the Snark tuner range a try.
