General Discussion / Re: Vape Tanks, or E-Cigarettes
« on: April 23, 2017, 10:54:13 AM »
After reading and watching many reviews I finally decided to upgrade to a cheap mod and tank setup, and found the one I wanted on www.amazon.co.uk

The Aspire Zelos 50w Kit Nautilus 2 Tank (Black).  it's a great little mod and tank combo, and does exactly what I need to move on from real cigarettes.  The Nautilus 2 Tank has adjustable air flow so it can be turned down to give you that tight draw like you'd get from a real cig.  Open up the airflow and crank up the wattage and your doing virtually mouth to lung.

The Nautilus 2 tank is a very neat looking tank, but it has its drawbacks for me.  One being, because it's a top filling tank and toe top cap has a integrated cover that slides over the glass tube, it's quite difficult to grip the thing to unscrew the cap /Cover to refill it, it's very smooth with no knurling to gain any grip. Its small, only hold 2ml of juice, but that's the size all tanks will be soon due to the new laws being introduced.

Apart from that this thing is fantastic, and the mod itself is extremely easy to operate, has loads of functions if you want to explore, or use different tanks. And a built in 2500mAh Battery so you'll get a lot of vaping in between charges.

More links with the same kit.

Ah, but it has the 0.5w power choke, which is what I use it on all the time in the house . . .  :legit:

Good point Howard, I'd forgotten about that.  So in reality the Katana is probably more controllable than the Mustang 3.  I find the master volume on the Mustang very touchy for living room use, either very quiet, or very loud lol.

Effects Pedals & Pedalboards / Line-6 Helix and Helix LT
« on: April 14, 2017, 12:54:43 PM »
Anyone took the plunge and got a Line-6 helix.  https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Helix  Just wondered what your first impressions are on this effects processor.

I see now they have a slightly cheaper version called the Helix LT , which I'll need to read up on to see what the differences are.  Looks like a few of the connectivity has been removed, but what else I'm not sure yet. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/HelixLT

If you have either of these units please post your thoughts.

Nice feedback on the Katana Howard.  Sounds like you're pleased with it.

I'm yet to try one out for myself though.  But if it's louder than the Mustang 3, I might have to go a little smaller for home use.  ;)

General Discussion / Vape Tanks, or E-Cigarettes
« on: February 19, 2017, 08:17:26 PM »
OK, I'm a long term smoker, and want to try and kick the habit.  Been thinking about trying a Vape Tank instead of real tobacco, but I'm new to all this vape stuff.  Anyone here made the move?

Three days ago I purchased a cheap starter kit, and so far I haven't had a real cigarette for two and a half days, that's a record for me to be honest.  Normally I'd be going crazy for a fag.   I don't know if it's the cheapy kit I got, or perhaps the juice I'm using, but I feel it could be a little stronger.

Quite like the look of this one on amazon, IMECIG® G3 Upgrade (Add Magnetic Dust Cap) Electronic Cigarette Starter Kit But any recommendations are welcome, I usually smoke rolling tobacco, so something with similar strength would be great.

It arrived about 2 hours ago.

F me is it loud. I've only run it on 0.5w and that is plenty for practicing. Sounds very very good. I'll have to wait until I have the house to myself before I try cranking it up, but I reckon it's going to be like my Corvette - never run flat out :)

A day later: Oh, bliss, it just sounds A Maze Zing. So much volume, even on half a watt, my ears are ringing. Such a range and depth of tone. Dare I say it? Looks like I'll never need another guitar amplifier. Just wow!

Get one before Boss change their mind about the pricing  :knuppel2:  8)

Cool.  8)  Look forward to your thoughts on the Katana, when you've had time to explore at depth.   I've watched a few YT reviews and it does sound very nice. some good effects available too.

KATANA does sound really nice in that demo I must admit.  8)

I forgot about the 10" speakers on the Blackstar's.  The Insider software is pretty rubbish IMO. plus there's a few reliability issue's and bugs that have popped up on their forums with the older ID:Core range which kind of puts me off getting another one. That said, my ID:Core 40 is really good.

The Mustang's are without doubt a very reliable range of amps, they have always been extremely good value for money.  A case of Better the devil you know.  The only thing I find with mine is, I spend a lot of time fiddling with the settings, and experimenting with different tones, instead of playing.  There's such a lot to explore. ;)

Howard, you got a shop local to you that might have those amps in stock?  I'd certainly like to try both options before purchasing, if possible.   There seems to be a few high power modelling amps released in the last few months, by the likes of Marshall, Blackstar, And Boss.

Still haven't tried a Boss Katana myself.

What version of Windows do you have? Have you tried running them through Steam? Have you tried gog.com for older games?

Steve, thanks, and happy new year to you..  I haven't tried  either of those yet, I will check them out when time permits though.

Getting used to the lag the more I play it.  Need to get hold of some connectors, and then I'll direct the audio through my Yamaha THR 10.

Mick, I've started playing this game via Steam called "Torchlight". It's the original version although there is a 2nd version out and supposedly a 3rd in the making. It's pretty cool! It plays kind of like Diablo 3 and a few others like it.

http://www.torchlightgame.com/

Looks neat Steve.  I remember Diablo, still got the original version somewhere.  There's a lot of games I miss from the old days, especially the Command and Conquer Red Alert, and all the other Command and Conquer series.  I've tried getting these running without good results. Shame.  :(
